LYRICS

THE KNOWLEDGE OF LOVE

I was on the brink of extinction

When suddenly you came for a day

In no time at all I'm notching up a distinction

In having something new I'd like to say

You came from somewhere far away and long ago

But in my heart you've always stayed that much I know

So I won't be afraid about the coming days

For Nature has her ways to move our course in time

And leaves the signs for us to find

That treasure trove

The knowledge of love

Science fact turned out to be fiction

Giants' feet turned out to be clay

I wondered about seeking for some jurisdiction

But no-one could recall the rightful way

How came an angel on a ship of light?

Where will we go?

The wind will take us and the will of God is in the flow

So ‘though you’ll soon be gone

You left me standing on a song

For Heaven leads us on to disregard the rest

Set to the test, we found the best

For which we strove

The knowledge of love

The knowledge of love

The knowledge of love

(ad infinitum…)

I was inspired first in the title of the song. I felt this was the real knowledge in a world of pretence and artifice. But I could not find the words and music. Time went by. Then old friendships reminded me of the that bond between us humans. Soon came the words. Only recently did I finish the song completely. It also expresses the failure of much which passes for real knowledge, and the disillusionment we can feel. The knowledge of love. That mysterious bond between humans. What knowledge is that? I'm hoping people will ask that question.”

Review

I love the choice of words. I think it's a very good song with a beautiful message.” - Thabang Shongwe
